Wodonga Barrier Trial Blackbookers February 13 - horses to follow from the Victorian barrier trials

  • Tycoon Dancer most impressive
  • 4 horses to put in the black book

There were a total of nine trials on a Good 4 track at Wodonga on Tuesday, February 13, and a few stood out as potential next start winners.

Jot these names down in your black book and hopefully enjoy a nice collect as they start to filter through in the next couple of weeks.

Trial 2 (800m) 47.72
This was the quickest of the six 800m heats and it was the Lindsay Park galloper TYCOON DANCER that finished best to score. The three-year-old son of Written Tycoon debuted with a win at Caulfield over 1100m but then disappointed at his next two starts before going for a spell. Has strengthened up during his time off and shouldn’t be far off another win.

Trial 3 (800m) 48.41
We could get a good price for CIRCULATE when she resumes based on her previous form. The Strategic filly was ok on debut but then had no luck at her next start when getting held up along the inside and then finishing very strong when into the clear. Should have improved physically off a good spell and was hard held in the trial to finish 2nd. Could have won this heat easily but they didn’t want to. She started at $61 and $31 in both starts so it wouldn’t surprise to see the bookies put up a big price without having looked deeply into her form.

Trial 6 (800m) 48.47
DON’T CALL ME AL sat three deep without cover up on the speed and put three lengths on the second horse when asked to before being eased up to score by 2.75 lengths. Failed to do anything in his first two starts but has been gelded and can win a suitable maiden.

Trial 9 (1200m)
ARTHUR PORRIT was given a solid hit-out and may be able to break through when he resumes. He led throughout and was challenged on the turn before being asked for an effort and putting seven lengths on them. Has failed in seven prior starts but his work suggests he’ll be highly competitive in a suitable maiden.
