Morphettville Barrier Trial Blackbookers June 21 - horses to follow from the South Australian trials

  • 4 horses to follow
  • Le Pomme de Pin most impressive
  • Track condition: Soft 7

A total of 10 barrier trial heats where run and won at Morphettville on Thursday, June 21, where a few stood out as potential winners and can be followed in their upcoming assignments.

Here are my horses to follow from the Morphettville barrier trials:

Trial 1 (1000m) 1:00.16
This was by far the quickest heat of the morning and it was the Phillip Stokes-trained NODOUBTABOUTIT that impressed most. The daughter of Good Journey settled just behind the speed and took over on the turn before cruising to an easy victory over the former Chris Waller-trained Its Time For Magic who is now under the guidance of Will Clarken and had race fitness on her side. Nodoubtaboutit has a great fresh record and she’ll be hard to beat first-up over 1000m.

Trial 2 (1000m) 1:01.37
A very soft trial for the Richard Jolly-prepared HAZY LANE who finished 2nd and was under a strong hold going to the line. This was a near identical performance to her trial last campaign before she scored first-up in BM64 company and then won a BM82 a couple of starts later. She’s come back in top order and has some wins in store this preparation.

Trial 4 (1000m) 1:01.08
Lloyd Kennewell’s LA POMME DE PIN was eased down to a canter in the last 200m and still scored by three lengths in handy time. The I Am Invincible filly was outstanding winning the Magic Millions 2YO Clockwise Classic (1000m) on a Soft 7 last campaign before disappointing next start and going for a spell. She ticks the wet track box, has strengthened up looks to have come back in great shape.

Trial 5 (1000m) 1:01.33
These 2YOs simply couldn’t go with the Tony McEvoy-trained VIETTI as the daughter of I Am Invincible cruised to a three-length victory and was never out of second gear. She’s nominated for Morphettville on Saturday and it will take a smart one to beat her.

BLACKBOOKERS:
Nodoubtaboutit
Hazy Lane
Le Pomme de Pin
