The Lindsay Park stable have accepted an invitation to race Boom Time in this year’s Japan Cup.

Senior trainer and owner of the horse David Hayes will be returning to ground already mastered after he won the 1990 Japan Cup with the brilliant Better Loosen Up. He now has the opportunity to eclipse that effort with his Caulfield Cup winning horse Boom Time.

Plans are in place for the horse to be on a plane on Monday headed for the land of the rising sun. Hayes held back on making a final decision until after the Melbourne Cup.

Co-trainer Tom Dabernig believes that although he didn’t run out the 3200m of the Melbourne Cup, he can be competitive back over the 2400m trip.

“The horse pulled up really well and we watched him for 24 hours just to see whether he was jaded or flat but all the signs have been good” Dabernig said.

Boom Town’s trackwork rider Dara O’Meachair will accompany the horse on the journey along with stable foreman Gary Fennessy. Hayes himself will follow later.

Fennessy has been with the Lindsay Park stable for some time as he also accompanied Better Loosen Up on his trip to Japan.

Jeune and Fields Of Omagh have also represented the stable in the Japan Cup without success however.
