Coolmore Classic hopeful - Francaletta

Kiwi mare Francaletta will contest the Group One Coolmore Classic with handicap conditions being more in her favour.

The High Chaparral mare finished third in the Group Two Guy Walter Stakes earlier this month while carrying 55kgs.

Co-trainer Murray Baker was happy with her efforts that day but believes conditions in the Coolmore will be more to her liking.

“It was a terrific run in very good company” Baker told the NZ Racing Desk.

“The Coolmore is a handicap which will suit her much better.

“She needs a good draw for a change though. She drew 11 the first time and with two scratchings came into nine”.

Kerrin McEvoy will continue his association with mare by taking the mount for the Coolmore.

Baker and Forsman have targeted Sydney this autumn and also have their eyes on the Group One Australian Derby.

Last year’s Geelong Classic winner Weather With You is in town to head the charge for the stable. The three-year-old is engaged at Warwick Farm on Wednesday with McEvoy also securing that ride.

Other members of the Baker-Forsman stable who are nominated for the $2 million Derby are New Zealand Derby winner Vin Da Dance, Mission Hill (who finished sixth in the Derby) and lower grade winner Mongolian Marshal who all arrive in Sydney on Tuesday.
