Black Hart Bart - out of the CF Orr Stakes

The Weir stable’s big hope is out of the Group One CF Orr Stakes due to an infected foot.

Defending champion Black Hart Bart has been ruled out of the event with reports suggesting he has an abscess on his foot.

Trainer Darren Weir confirmed he will miss the race and treatment will begin immediately in an attempt to have him fit to run in two weeks time.

Weir said while the treatment was necessary, he was confident that the seven-year-old would be fit and ready to attack the Group One Futurity Stakes in a fortnight.

Black Hart Bart has been troubled with foot problems in the past season however his problems were cleared for him to start in Saturday’s race until this new problem occurred.

With Black Hart Bart out of the race, this leaves the Weir stable with two runners. Pre-post favourite Tosen Stardom ($4.20) and the Japanese import Brave Smash who is currently an $8.50 chance.
