Tatura Barrier Trial Blackbookers April 17 - horses to follow from the Victorian barrier trials

  • 1 unraced horse to follow
  • 5 blackbookers in total

There was a total of 20 barrier trials at Tatura on Tuesday, April 17, and a few stood out as potential next start winners.

Jot these names down in your black book and hopefully enjoy a nice collect as they start to filter through in the next couple of weeks.

Trial 4 (850m) 49.50
A relatively soft hit-out for VEGA MAGIC who scored by a length to Fox Hall. Damien Oliver steered him out wide and covered a bit of ground, but he clearly had plenty on this lot and went to the line untested. He’ll take good improvement from the run and looks on track for the Goodwood at Morphettville.

Trial 6 (850m) 49.09
SPIETH is close to resuming for the new stable (Lindsay Park), and although he went three lengths quicker than Vega Magic two heats earlier, Spieth was really asked to attack the line and did so impressively.

Trial 10 (850m) 51.06
The Tony McEvoy-trained UNFAIR DISMISSAL carried the famous Makybe Diva colours to win this heat in the second quickest time of the 2YO brigade – but he did it very easy. The son of All Too Hard was disappointing on debut following two average trials in South Australia, but he looks to have turned the corner and led throughout to score by 1.75 lengths and was never asked for an effort.

Trial 12 (850m) 48.60
The Linc Sullivan-prepared GENEVA DIVA clocked the quickest time of the morning and did it comfortably throughout to score by nearly two lengths. The 3YO Hard Spun filly won her maiden by 3.5 lengths and has subsequently enjoyed an 11-week break before this pleasing trial. She can go on with it from here.

Trial 15 (850m) 49.80
I love the way LEGALE hit the line from well back to finish 2nd. The unraced Nicconi gelding is from the Lindsay Park yard and should be winning on debut judging by that effort.
