Tatura Barrier Trial Blackbookers December 11 - horses to follow from the Victorian barrier trials

  • Ong Varn most impressive
  • A few unraced horses to follow
  • 5 horses to put in the black book

There were 12 trials on a Good 3 track at Tatura on Monday, December 11, and a few stood out as potential next start winners.

Jot these names down in your black book and hopefully enjoy a nice collect as they start to filter through in the next couple of weeks.

Trial 2 (850m) 51.51
TYCOON GINA, a two-year-old Written Tycoon filly, led throughout to score a comfortable win and was never asked for an effort while the 2nd placed April Baby was hard ridden and the 3rd horse finished a long way back. Time wasn’t flash but she did it very easy.

Trial 3 (850m) 50.93
Another one from the Lindsay Park yard with MRS ALBERTI winning this heat. She settled a distant 3rd and chased gamely to arrive on the line while she was never really asked for a full effort.

Trial 5 (850m) 49.69
A near identical trial to heat 3 where MY MOTHER SAYS settled a distant 3rd and finished over the top of them. The Smart Missile gelding is yet to place in three starts but ran quick time and went to the line under a good hold.

Trial 8 (850m) 49.55
The quickest heat of the morning was won by CENTRAL PASS who didn’t begin the best but soon went up to challenge for the lead before kicking away to win by five lengths in very easy fashion. Her best form is over 1600m but she looks to have come back in great order and may be able win first-up on that effort.

Trial 10 (1100m)
I blackbooked ONG VARN from the Cranbourne trials on November 27, but boy was this impressive. The unraced Nicconi gelding sped across from a wide gate to lead and kicked well clear on the turn before being eased right down to win by seven. It will take something special to be beating him on debut.
