Tatura Barrier Trial Black bookers July 24 - horses to follow from the Victorian barrier trials

  • Proud Wolf most impressive
  • A couple of unraced 2YOs to follow
  • 3 horses to put in the black book
Proud Wolf winning his barrier trial at Tatura

There were 11 trials on a Good 4 track at Tatura on Monday, July 24, and a few stood out as potential next start winners.

Jot these names down in your black book and hopefully enjoy a nice collect as they start to filter through in the next couple of weeks.

Trial 4 (1000m) 1:00:50
Two-year-old Red Arrow gelding ARROWROOT showed great early speed and led all the way to win in good time while never being asked for a real effort. He did it on his own and was always well clear in the 10-length romp which makes the trial time even more impressive.

Trial 5 (1000m) 1:01:80
Ong Varn (2nd) and Ghost Doctor (1st) set up a big lead coming into the straight but I really like the way the Robert Smerdon-trained MOLICIOUS worked home for 3rd place. The son of Uncle Mo was very green and has plenty to learn, but he certainly has his share of ability and can win in the near future.

Trial 11 (1000m)
Easily the most impressive trial of the morning belongs to the Lee and Shannon Hope-prepared PROUD WOLF who won by 12 lengths in the quickest time of the 1000m heats. He began best but was snagged back to last from the outside gate, but he was let slide at the halfway mark and just keep extending his margin under light hands and heels riding. He’s in for a big campaign!
