Rosehill Trials Monday January 22 - Here Are The Other Black Bookers

  • Winx and Redzel starred
  • But real punters should jot these names down as potential winners

The big set of Barrier Trials at Rosehill on Monday morning were highlighted by Redzel and Winx.

They were unplaced in their trials but looked awesome as did Ace High and Trapeze Artist in the trial.

But other winners popped up in the remaining 15 trials that morning.

Here is my take on how the trials unfolded and those who should win soon.

Older Horses

ADDICTIVE NATURE: sat off a solid tempo in a Group level trial then just launched to win with his head on his chest in good time. This was impressive work. Looks certain to be a major player this spring.

FROLIC: was in same trial and was 5th but she was never let go by Hughie Bowman. Looked very fine as she galloped through the line.

READY FOR SUCCESS: gee the way this restricted class stayer hit the line would suggest only one thing - he's back and back better than last time where he won a BM 80 at Warwick Farm. Watch for him about 3rd up.

KOOKABAA: is a maiden with Chris Waller but wont be one for long. Was cantering 3 deep all way, and went to the line under his own steam to claim a 1030m trial. Is very fit and can win first up.

CHATUCHAK: did not come up last campaign but off this unplaced but impressive trial over 900m today, I'd say she is back...and back many lengths better. Is a Class 2 provincial galloper but can win that grade upon resumption.

SHOWTIME: was beaten into 2nd place but looked in need of the 900m run and the winner was ridden right out. Gross fellow who will need another trial but has many wheels.

ZA ZI BA: sat wide all way and still managed to get to the line for 3rd in good trial. Wasn't asked to really stretch out yet was finishing it off nicely.

2YOs

ROYAL WITNESS (Star Witness-Confidential Queen) has yet to race but has star quality about him. Went to the line looking one of the best when close 3rd to Slipper favourite Performer. Will win races.

CLARO QUE SI (Lope De Vega-Star Over Kansas) was back and deep all way yet really rattled home in top 2YO trial to grab 4th behind Performer. Yet to race but looks gifted.

PEMBROKE CASTLE (I Am Invincible-Callista) is a Chris Waller youngster who has yet to race but today he was asked to stretch out and he duly obeyed. Looked very fast and strong leading all way and really leaving big gaps in the field.

OMAR (Snitzel-Ichihara) looks very, very smart. To me, he was the standout juvenile trialler. Ran well held 3rd here behind another unraced talented one called Ringerdingding, but I got the impression they didn't want to show the world what he has. I'm on the moment I see him engaged.

FALLGOLD (Exceed and Excel-Raspberries) is a filly who is yet to race but did look like an athlete when a hard held 4th in quickish 900m trial. Is with Godolphin so expect bold showing when she races.

LABURNUM (Denman-Runes) sat wide and was held back from extending when beaten less than 3 lengths in debut trial. May need another run, but has talent as she was under restraint late.
