Rosehill Barrier Trial Blackbookers January 8 - horses to follow from the NSW trials

  • Track condition: Good 3
  • 5 horses to follow
  • Fiesta most impressive

A total of 13 barrier trial heats took place at Rosehill Gardens on Monday, January 8, where a few horses stood out as potential winners and can be followed in their upcoming assignments.

Here are my horses to follow from the Rosehill barrier trials:

Trial 1 (1030m) 1:02.30
A much improved effort from DANZIE who scored by nearly four lengths and did it very easy. He trialled over 900m on December 22 and went ok, but Monday’s trials showed he’s really come on and is ready to run a nice race fresh. He won on debut and was runner-up in his only other two starts so is obviously a consistent type with ability.

Trial 2 (1030m) 1:02.10
ENDLESS DRAMA is yet to win in Australia but was Group 2 placed among three disappointing runs in Group 1 races. He settled off the pace and cantered up to take the lead on the home turn before winning comfortably in good time. Always trials well but this was his best piece of work and he should be breaking through this time.

2YOs:

Trial 6 (900m) 53.80
Equally the quickest of the 900m heats and the quickest of the two-year-olds was won by Estijaab but it was Chris Waller’s I Am Invincible filly, FIESTA, that impressed most. She sat behind the speed and effortlessly cruised to the line, keeping up with the winner as she was being eased toward the line. Was placed in both runs last campaign but has clearly come back much bigger and stronger and is in for a good campaign.

Trial 7 (900m) 54.80
RIVER BIRD was very green finishing in 3rd place but possesses a nice turn of foot that will take her a fair way. The daughter of Epaulette jumped awkwardly and settled last but she really started to lengthen in the straight and was finishing so fast she had to be restrained in the final 50m before she overdid it. Would like to see her trial again but would be happy to be on at nice odds when she debuts.

Trial 8 (900m) 54.00
Breeders Plate (1000m) winner PERFORMER will be looking to remain unbeaten when he resumes and if this trial was any guide, he’s come back in sensational order. The Exceed And Excel colt was never asked for an effort at any stage and simply cruised to victory.
