Randwick Barrier Trials - follow these juveniles

  • Pariah and Songlike look outstanding prospects
Pariah (white head in centre) sneaks through to win trial - most impressive of the morning

A nice set of winter barrier trials was conducted at Randwick during the week.

Here are the ones who stood out to my eye.

Older Horses

SPRINTING TO WIN: look for this bloke up the line soon. He's only a maiden galloper but he hit the line nicely in fast run trial which featured better performed horses.

POSITIVE PROBLEMS: looked strong and wound up to win fast run trial. Led and was headed yet came again and didn't get asked to really extend. Pay to watch.

COSMIC POWERS: smart filly this. Sat 3 deep all the way and wound up 3rd in fast trial without being knocked around. Looks a likely city winner.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS: this might be pretty handy. Had a stint in Hong Kong and this was his first look at an Aussie track for a few years. Came through between runners late to win trial and wasn't extended either. City grade for sure.

2YOs

ADDICTIVE BEHAVIOUR (Savabeel-Generous nature) I know it's only a winter trial but I loved the way this bloke worked into the trial then let down without being fully asked to let go. He's unraced but he looks good.

LANGLEY (Redoute's Choice-Panarama Ridge) was 4th in his trial, in a slow timeat that and although that doesn't read well, it was the way he attacked the line that impressed me. He's big, looks to be a stayer in the making and can accelerate. Respect.

SEBRING EXPRESS (Sebring-Miss Exxi) looked very professional winning this. Just cruised up to leaders when nudged at the 300m and then shot clear final 50m when given a kick. Looks back better than ever.

SONGLIKE (Your Song-Mabkhara) wow. Daisy cut her way to victory without raising a sweat and ran super fast time in doing so. Is back and ready to win Saturday city grade.

EVERLASTING LOVE (Your Song-Power Of Love) sat wide and made good headway late in fast run trial. Is unraced but seems to have loads of talent.

PARIAH (Redoute's Choice-Secluded) won this trial but was under a full-nelson and it was clear connections didn't want to win. Looks back better than ever and this is a stakes horse for sure. Very impressive.
