There were a total of 10 barrier trials conducted on a Good 4 track at Murray Bridge on Friday, January 27, and a few stood out as horses to follow.
Here are my horses to follow from the Murray Bridge barrier trials:
Trial 1 (900m) 0:54.95
The quickest 900m heat of the morning was run in 54.95 and it was the 2nd placed WAR THUNDER that impressed most. He was restrained as soon as the gates opened so it was obvious he was there for a controlled gallop. He was itching to go faster for the majority of the trial and finished off nicely along the rail. Goes well first-up and looks ready to win over 1000m.
Trial 4 (900m) 0:55.13
RATHER EDGY sped out to lead and never looked in doubt as he cruised to a 3.7-length victory. Showed enough for an unraced galloper and can go on with the job first-up.
Trial 6 (900m) 0:55.16
The Phillip Stokes-trained BROADBAND won this heat quite comfortably and was never put under pressure. She was sent to Flemington for her first and only run, so the stable must have a good opinion of her. Can get off the mark this campaign.
Trial 9 (900m) 0:55.820
ON THE LINE finished 2nd in this heat but was going far better than the winner. He has run some good races in four career starts and looks to have come back much better this time. A maiden victory should be just around the corner.
Trial 10 (1300m) 1:17.58
Tony McEvoy’s unraced Duporth gelding, TABLE OF WISDOM, has improved with each of his four barrier trials and now looks ready to go to the races. He led all the way to defeat his much more accomplished stablemate Evangelist by 3.5 lengths.
