Morphettville Barrier Trial Black Bookers June 30 - horses to follow from the South Australian trials

  • Just 2 to follow – but they were impressive
  • Triage nominated for Gawler on Saturday

A total of 11 barrier trials where conducted on a Soft 5 on the Parks circuit at Morphettville on Friday, June 30.

A couple stood out as potential winners and can be followed in their upcoming assignments.

Here are my horses to follow from the Morphettville barrier trials:

Trial 6 (1000m) 01:01.500
Not sure what the story is behind TRIAGE but I’ll endeavour to find out before he debuts at Gawler on Saturday. The son of Octagonal won a trial for David Brideoake at Cranbourne earlier this month and has now trialled for Phillip Stokes – and boy was he impressive. He took up the running in the trial and kicked away to win by six while jockey Matthew Neilson was restraining him. Looks like a ‘get on’ as soon as markets open up.

Trial 9 (1000m) 01:00.970
Nodoubtaboutit won the quickest heat of the morning and went well, but it was the Tony McEvoy-trained MANUEL that impressed most. He was well back throughout, came extremely wide on the turn and worked home gamely under a strong hold to claim 4th place. McEvoy took him to Flemington first-up last campaign where he was far from disgraced finishing 2.8 lengths from Speedeor over 1000m. He looks set to run a big race fresh.
