A total of 10 jump-outs took place at Mornington on Wednesday, January 18, and there were a trio of horses that stood out.
Jot these names down in your blackbook and keep an eye out for them in coming weeks.
Heat 1 (700m) 40.11
I was really taken with the horse that finished near last in the opening heat. The Jason Warren-trained AEROPLANE has really strengthened up during a break and has come back in sensational order. He won his 1200m maiden by three lengths on debut and then failed over 1400m before heading to the spelling paddock. The son of Casino Prince settled at the rear and looked like he was just going to beat them all up on the turn as he started to circle before the finish line loomed and he was eased down. Quiet trial but really impressed.
Heat 6 (900m) 52.8
Mornington-based trainer Billy Stockdale produced and unraced Wanted gelding that went pretty good. MY LITTLE OLIVER jumped best to lead, and despite being headed on the turn by horses that were under strong pressure, he kicked back under mild riding to win the jumpout easily.
Heat 5 (900m) 51.98
ATOMIC LOKADE and Mega D’oro went stride for stride in quick time but the former was travelling better on the line and is the one to follow from the jumpout. He has won and placed in all three first-up runs, and he can add to that tally first-up this campaign.
