Cranbourne Barrier Trial Black Bookers June 5 - horses to follow from the Victorian trials

  • O’susie’s Boy and Stream Ahead most impressive
  • 4 horses to put in the black book

A total of 13 barrier trial heats were conducted on the synthetic track at Cranbourne on Monday, June 5.

A few stood out as potential winners and can be followed in their upcoming assignments.

Here are my horses to follow from the Cranbourne barrier trials:

Trial 3 (1000m) 1:01:32
TRY PINK came very wide on the turn and overpowered her rivals without too much pressure applied. She ran some good placings at her first three starts but didn’t break through until her eighth start. Looks to have improved off the break and can pick up a BM64 win somewhere.

Trial 4 (1000m) 1:00:87
Trainer Greg Eurell seems to have found a smart one in O’SUSIE’S BOY. The unraced three-year-old son of O’lonhro showed good early speed to lead the trial and then kicked strongly to win by seven lengths without being asked for an effort. Time was much quicker than the other 1000m trials and he can win on debut in a suitable race.

Trial 7 (760m) 45:27
The Robbie Griffiths-prepared EVOLUTIONIST seemed to have plenty of gears left as he cruised to victory in the quickest 2YO heat of the morning. The Bel Esprit gelding looked quite professional for an untried sprinter, and I’m sure he’ll be placed to win.

Trial 13 (760m) 44:22
STREAM AHEAD was far too classy for these and looks ready to fire. Her first-up record reads two wins and a 2nd to Petite’s Filous at Moonee Valley, and that form suggests she should be followed first-up this time in after the impressive trial.
