Caulfield Jumpouts - Tuesday October 3rd

Ten Jumpouts from Caufield
Three horses for the Blackbook
Caulfield Jumpouts on Tuesday Morning.

Ten Jumpouts took place at Caufield on Tuesday Morning, with many unraced two-year-olds taking the track. We've identified three horses to follow from the meeting.

Jump Out 2: 700m - 42.70sec
Five unraced runners went around in the second Jumpout. They ran just 0.02sec slower than Jumpout number one for the day, a Jumpout that included Lankan Rupee. The one I want to have in our Blackbook from this Jumpout is a Snitzel Colt from the Mick Price yard called PRAIRIE FIRE. He jumped to the lead from the inside gate and showed nice speed to travel comfortably in the run. Horses on his outside were under hard riding in the concluding stages of the Jumpout, with the Jockey of Prairie Fire still having a good grip on the Colt. I’m excited to see him step out in his first preparation.

Jump Out 6: 700m - 44.02sec
Jumpout number six was contested by five unraced runners. It was an even contest in the finish, however there was one horse that caught my eye. The John Sadler-trained LOOK BEHIND sat four-wide for the duration of the 700m Jumpout and when others were off the bit, Look behind travelled strongly out wide to finish in second, only a neck behind the winner who had the rails advantage. When the jumpout finished, Look behind followed the outside fence suggesting that he still has some learning to do. In Maiden grade he should be very competitive.

Jump Out 10: 700m - 43.91sec
It was hard not to be impressed with the Mick Price-trained MATAKANUI. It’s hard to believe that the four-year-old who last start missed the placings in a Werribee highweight Maiden over 2025m was the same horse that won this 700m Jumpout in emphatic fashion. Matakanui Jumped straight to the front and never looked like being challenged, winning the Jumpout by almost two lengths. It looks like Price has turned Matakanui around since his last run back in April. He should be over the odds when he returns first-up and in a suitable Maiden, I’ll be happy to be on him.

Blackbookers:

Jumpout 2: PRAIRIE FIRE
Jumpout 6: LOOK BEHIND
Jumpout 10: MATAKANUI
