Dual Group 1 winner - Tosen Stardom

Dual Group One winner Tosen Stardom’s Doncaster Handicap appearance was his last as connections have decided to retire him.

The seven-year-old stallion hasn’t returned as well as he was last preparation and with a few disappointing runs this campaign, it persuaded the owners to retire him.

In last Saturday’s Doncaster Hcp, he missed the start (rearing) but recovered well enough to be in his usual racing space by the 1200m mark.

He travelled well to the turn however in the run home just didn’t look interested in racing and appeared to stop chasing.

The Darren Weir trained horse stamped himself a true contender during his Australian career however, including victories in last year’s Group One Toorak Handicap and Group One Emirates Stakes.

His career started in Japan but will end here Australia. He finishes with 29 starts for seven wins and five minor placings for a total earnings of just over $3.4 million.

He will begin his stud duties at Woodside Park Stud, located just outside Kyneton in Victoria where he will join successful sire Written Tycoon in producing future racing contenders.
