Dwayne Dunn - one of four jockeys suspended on Stakes Day

Leading rider Dwayne Dunn is one of four jockeys to earn a suspension on the final day of the Melbourne Spring Carnival

Dunn was the hardest hit after being slapped with two separate careless riding charges. His mount in the Group Two Matriarch Stakes (Cedar Grande) was found to have caused interference to Flying Jess and Star Patriot at the 1500m mark.

Just 45 minutes later, he was pinged again for his ride on Chautauqua where he caused interference to Michael Dee on Man From Uncle.

Dunn pleaded guilty to both charges and was suspended for 10 meetings on the first charge and 14 meetings on the second. Both suspensions will be served concurrently which sees Dun return to the saddle on November 23.

Dunn was not the only jockey to be charged with a riding offence in the Emirates Stakes.

Ben Melham earned himself an eight-meeting suspension after being charged with a whip offence. He was found guilty of striking his mount The Taj Mahal on ten occasions prior to reaching the 100m mark.

Meanwhile Kerrin McEvoy’s celebrations from winning the Emirates Stakes on Redzel were dampened somewhat after he was hit with an eight-meeting suspension for a low-range careless riding charge on Mr So And So in the last of the day.

Katelyn Mallyon also found herself in the steward’s room to answer a charge of careless riding on Super Cash in the Darley Classic. She left the room with an 11-meeting suspension.

Two other jockeys were charged for whip offences. Corey Brown was fined $3,000 for his offence on Kentucky Breeze in race nine while Dean Yendall is $1,500 lighter after his whip overuse charge on Cliff’s Edge in The Emirates Stakes.
