Leading Melbourne jockey Regan Bayliss is set to arrive early in Brisbane as he prepares for the Winter Carnival.

Bayliss returned to the track last Saturday with a winning double after he spent time out of the saddle through suspension on two separate charges.

He was outed on a reckless riding charge whilst aboard Main Stage in the Australian Guineas. He managed to have that ban deferred til the following week.

This allowed him to ride Redkirk Warrior to victory in the Newmarket Handicap, however that resulted in yet another charge for whip abuse which led to a fine and another suspension.

Bayliss wasted no time in returning to the track when he won the very first race at Caulfield last Saturday. Later in the day he scored on the Chris Waller trained Savacool.

AAP reports that Bayliss was glad to be back and looking forward to his winter in Brisbane.

“It would have been nice to be riding up in Sydney but to kick off my first Saturday back with a metropolitan double is good” Bayliss said.

Bayliss now heads to Brisbane where he has two rides booked for Anthony Freedman at this Saturday’s Doomben meeting. He has hopes of picking other top rides during the carnival as well.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to find a couple of nice horses up there and get on their backs for the Carnival”.
