Glenall came 2nd behind Egyptian Symbol at Rosehill on Saturday December 2

There was plenty of action around Australia on Saturday December 2 with Viddora taking out the Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot in Perth, while a number of contenders made their mark on the eastern seaboard.

For this week's horses to follow, we have picked out three from Doomben and Rosehill.

Doomben Race 3 - SIZZLING PLATE 2YO (1050 METRES)- Ardoyne Road

All paths lead to Queensland for the two-year-olds over the next month with the Magic Millions (1200m) at the Gold Coast looming on the horizon. Connections of the best of the early season two-year-olds are hoping for a spot in the field on January 13 and one that we are likely to see is Ardonyne Road, who took out the Sizzling Plate (1050m) in dominant fashion at her debut on Saturday at Doomben. The Toowoomba galloper started as a $17 chance after drawing a wide barrier but settled just outside the leader before careering away in the straight to take out the $100,000 affair. The daughter of Top Echelon looks to be a serious horse and may have up to two more starts before the $2 million race for the youngsters in January.

Rosehill Race 7 - FESTIVAL STAKES (1500 METRES)- Mister Sea Wolf

The feature of the day at Rosehill was the Festival Stakes and despite going down in thrilling fashion to Testashadow, Mister Sea Wolf looks to be the likely one to follow out of the Group 3 affair. Lining up at his first ever start in Australia, the Chris Waller-import had plenty of support in the market throughout the week and looked like he would overcome Testashadow in the closing stages, but missed out by the barest of margins. Waller, who has had plenty of success with imported gallopers over the years, looks to have another future winner. The six-year-old should only improve off that run and could be a sneaky contender in the upcoming Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Randwick later this month.

Race 8 - STARLIGHT STAKES (1100 METRES)- Glenall

In the Starlight Stakes, it was Egyptain Symbol that continued her solid first up record by coming with a well-timed run to score on the Heavy track. However, it might be worth sticking with the runner-up in Glenall. The Team Hawkes-trained galloper, who was easy in the market, did all the chasing in the early stages of the straight and was left a bit of a sitting duck at the business end. The four-year-old won first up recently and might be better back on top of the ground. In the autumn, he ran a series of competitive races in strong company, including a 5th to Russian Revolution and Redzel in the Galaxy and should pick up another win at some stage this campaign.
