  • Hollindale Stakes traditionally the best lead-up.

Sydney’s leading trainer, Chris Waller, will saddle up nearly half the field in Saturday’s Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m) with six runners making the final field of 13.

Waller aims for his third win in the race having scored with Metal Bender (2010) and Beaten Up (2013) previously, and on Saturday, the stable will be represented by Comin’ Through, Tom Melbourne, One Foot In Heaven, Satono Rasen, Life Less Ordinary and Egg Tart.

Coming Through disappointed as favourite in the traditional lead-up race, the Hollindale Stakes (1800m), where he finished 6th behind Oregon’s Day and stablemate Tom Melbourne who notched up yet another 2nd placing taking his runner-up tally to 10.

Life Less Ordinary is one of three last start winners in the race having scored a dominant 4.3-length victory in the Wagga Cup (2000m) last start.

Mick Price’s mare, Oregon’s Day, has fared well in barrier 2 and will be looking to continue her brilliant preparation that has included 2nd placings in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) and Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) before a 4th placing in the Group 1 Queen of the Turf (1600m) and her last start Hollindale win.

Victoria’s leading trainer, Darren Weir, is represented by Tradesman who scored at Warrnambool over 1700m last start and is undefeated in two starts over 2000m.
