Blue Diamond Stakes Day from Caulfield features three Group 1s as part of its nine-race program on Saturday.
The Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival continues to heat up with the $1.5 million Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m), Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m).
Race 7 will be the main event as a capacity field of 16 juveniles contest the Blue Diamond Stakes at 4:45pm.
Unbeaten colt Extreme Choice has the speed to race in the first four and looks a strong chance on the back of his win in the Chairman’s Stakes. Stablemate Flying Artie was a brilliant winner of the Blue Diamond Prelude for colts & geldings. Samara Dancer is also unbeaten and she won the Prelude for the fillies in good fashion from the fast-finishing Concealer who also looks a leading contender.
Star Turn was only just run down by Flying Artie and looks a knockout chance in the event while Miss Nymeria was hitting the line in good fashion behind Samara Dancer and Concealer in the Prelude.
The Futurity Stakes will be Race 6 on the program and run at 4:05pm.
Turn Me Loose returned with a fourth-placing in the CF Orr Stakes and looks capable of turning the tables on Suavito who can capture another Group 1. Hucklebuck let down strongly in that same event to grab third from a wide barrier and looks suited here as does Boban who is chasing his seventh success at the elite level.
Politeness was too far back in the Rubiton Stakes first up and was beaten a tiny margin by Turn Me Loose in the Emirates Stakes during the spring which gives her an each-way chance in the Futurity. It is a great field and runners such as Rebel Dane, Trust In A Gust and Stratum Star can match it with the best on their day and will have some admirers.
The Oakleigh Plate is Race 8 on the card and set to be held at 5:22pm.
A full field of 18 runners will compete in the Oakleigh Plate and the in-form Heatherly rates as a top candidate after winning the Rubiton Stakes. The filly only carries 50kg as does Keen Array who ran second in the Coolmore Stud Stakes. Bounding is very consistent and she looks an each-way chance in the race along with Fell Swoop who has won seven of his past eight starts.
There are a lot more chances in the race with Fast ‘N’ Rocking, Gregers, The Quarterback, Vezalay, Headwater and third emergency Secret Agenda the best of the rest based upon recent form and barriers.
