Australian Guineas Day from Flemington features nine races on Saturday, with the Group 1 feature worth $750,000.
The Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) will be Race 7 on the program and is set to be run at 4:30pm.
New Zealand colt Xtravagant has won five of eight starts, including two Group 1s in the past six months; both victories have been by 8.5 and 8 lengths respectively. Standing in his way is Mahuta who has won six-on-end but this is his greatest challenge. Victoria Derby winner Tarzino returned in great order and looks a leading chance in the Guineas.
Palentino was second in the CS Hayes Stakes after losing the race on protest while Kingston Town Classic winner Perfect Reflection looks suited stepping up to the mile. Tivaci is capable of winning the Guineas along with Jameka and Risque.
The Group 3 Tressady Stakes (1400m) is one of the support races on the card and will be held at 5:10pm as Race 8.
Abidewithme will appreciate dropping in class for her first-up run after competing at Group 1 level last prep. Wawail has been consistent in this company and will have plenty of admirers. Choose was third two starts back in the Bellmaine Stakes, beating home Wawail and Jessy Belle can also fight out the finish.
The Group 3 TAB Rewards Stakes (1400m) looks an excellent race and will come up as Race 5 at 3:10pm.
Burning Front has won his past two starts and can make it a hat-trick from his good barrier. Dan Zephyr will be a huge danger following three consecutive wins and Leebaz should enjoy the class drop.
