Despite finishing his career with three consecutive defeats, including a last start fifth in the Breeders Cup Classic at Del Mar, Arrogate has been rated the Longines World’s Best Racehorse ahead of Champion Mare Winx.

An updated Ranking was released on Thursday Night, showing Arrogate still on top with a Ranking of 134, with Winx in second after her third consecutive Cox Plate victory on 132.

Three-year-old Colt Cracksman sits third with a Ranking of 130 after winning the Group One Champion Stakes at Royal Ascot by seven lengths in October. Breeders Cup Classic winner Gun Runner is in fourth with a Ranking of 129 after sitting on a fast speed and blowing his rivals away.

Champion three-year-old Filly Enable finishes in fifth with a Ranking of 128 after her amazing wins in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Ascot, Yorkshire Oaks and Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe.

Other Australian horses to make the Rankings include Chautauqua T-11th (123), Hartnell T-18th (122), Humidor T-18th (122), Jameka T-28th (121), Le Romain T-36th (120) and Vega Magic T-36th (120).

Both Arrogate and Gun Runner are now retired, whilst Winx will have her Autumn preparation in Australia before looking at either Royal Ascot or Dubai for her next assignment.

The ratings are not based on overall performance, rather the horse's peak performance between a certain period of time (January 1st to November 5, 2017) for these rankings. These Rankings released are termed as ‘interim’ before the committee gathers next month to determinate the official rankings. The next edition will be released on 23rd January 2018.
