Race 7 (9:45pm local/11:45pm AEST) – GRADUATION CONDITIONED HANDICAP – 2540m

Paddy McCole has transferred stables to join Middle Swan trainer Clinton Pearce who will also drive the four-year-old gelding tonight.

He begins from the 10m handicap by himself which is essentially the front-line for tonight’s R0+ contest.

It was his last start at Pinjarra in a C0+ event which caught my interest after the field dashed home in 55.5 seconds with Paddy McCole making up some ground. He finished seventh, beaten 10m by Perfect Mach and Kid Colossus. Both horses have since won which strengthens the formline.

The mile rate of 2:01.6 was decent enough going and Paddy McCole should give a big sight tonight.

Race 8 (10:14pm local/12:14pm AEST) – JOS ARMSTRONG MEMORIAL FILLIES AND MARES GRADUATION MS PACE – 2180m

Simondou Su looks an improver in tonight’s R0-R3 contest as she begins in the moving line on the second row. She finished fourth in much stronger company last start when beaten 18.9m by Talkerup.

That was her first run for trainer Wayne Justins and the six-year-old mare appeals on an each-way basis at $12/$2.80.

Ideally she will get cover in the run and then look to make a run in the final circuit.

There is no disputing that $1.50 favourite Mileys Desire will be hard to beat but she hasn’t run top two in her career before and if Ayana held her out at the start then it looks to be race on.
