Trent Orwin in Harness 12 Jul 2017
  • Final field and barrier draw for the Blacks A Fake Queensland Championship
  • Tiger Tara has barrier draw advantage
  • Lennytheshark, My Field Marshal and Hectorjayjay have second-row draws
Tiger Tara

Tiger Tara has a front-line draw which gives him an advantage over main rivals in Saturday night’s Group 1 Blacks A Fake Queensland Championship (2680m) at Albion Park.

Prepared by Kevin Pizzuto, former New Zealand pacer Tiger Tara has been in exceptional form since joining the Rossmore trainer. His prospects of capturing the Group 1 feature were enhanced when he drew barrier five.

Driver Todd McCarthy will be searching for the lead or death seat in the race and a horse that may have a say over the lead is Major Crocker who has come up with barrier three. Both Major Crocker and Tiger Tara will move in a position if first emergency Jackaroo Bromac doesn’t gain a start from barrier two.

David Aiken’s duo drew the second row with Lennytheshark beginning from barrier eight and Hectorjayjay from barrier 12. They warmed up for this event in the Group 2 Sunshine Sprint (1660m) which saw Hectorjayjay win in a cruisy 1:54.1 mile rate. It was nothing more than a dash home in 25.7 seconds.

Len Smith Mile (1609m) winner My Field Marshal represents New Zealand trainer Tim Butt and he will begin from barrier 10. He was runner up in the Sunshine Sprint and was the run of the race to finish within a half-neck of Hectorjayjay.

Spare Me Days will enjoy barrier one while Mach Doro and Mr Mojito fared poorly at the barrier draw.
