Form analyst Trent Orwin previews his best selections for Pinjarra on Monday.

Race 1 (12:57pm local/2:57pm AEST) – WESTBRED GRADUATION MS PACE – 2185m

The Mervyn Jupp-trained two-year-old filly Lady In Command finished well last start when second behind Infinite Symbol over course and distance.

Barrier 11 isn’t ideal for the filly but she should continue to improve with racing and at her third start she could find further improvement.

The mile rate of 1:59.6 was quick for R0 Only grade and the last half of 56.7 was also quick for the maiden pacers; it isn’t a traditional maiden though with a number of juveniles competing that look better than this grade.

Race 3 (2:15pm local/4:15pm AEST) – MARES MS PACE – 1684m

Our Artemisia has been consistent in C0-C1 events at Pinjarra and this looks easier than the past three that she has contested. It is somewhat negated by barrier 11 over 1684m but I’m keen to have a play if we get $7 or better.

Two starts ago she was runner up behind Sea Me Smile and her fourth-placing was fine behind Soho Angel and Parisian Partygirl.

Our Artemisia has won two from 12 over sprint journeys and been placed another five times.

Our Artemisia if $7+

Rated Price: $6.50

Race 6 (3:45pm local/5:45pm AEST) – ROY PATTERSON MEMORIAL MS PACE – 1684m

It’s not often that I tip one of my favourite horses Shardons Rocket in a race but today is the day.

He was claimed from Tony Svilicich and the horse has been unplaced in two runs since then. I believe there have been excuses for both defeats with the 12-year-old veteran of 313 starts being asked to do too much work.

Two main dangers have drawn worse than him but Thereugo follows out Im Batman which makes things interesting.

I get the feeling there may not be support for Shardons Rocket today and we could get a good price if people jump off.

Race 8 (4:37pm local/6:37pm AEST) – CONDITIONED HANDICAP SS PACE – 2631m

Mitch Maguire comes up very short which is no surprise. He has galloped out before and still won but he wouldn’t want to lose a massive space today because a few pacers could make him pay.

Regardless of whether he steps cleanly and just wins or not, the Michael Brennan-trained seven-year-old gelding Jus Livinthedream ($21/$3.10) has been racing well in these Monday stands and today looks suitable again from a 30m handicap.

He will settle back in the field and look to run on late.

Two starts ago he was beaten 3.7m by The Trilogy and four starts ago defeated Avalon Bromac and Aurelius.
