The barrier draw for the Group 1 Golden Slipper (2130m) at Gloucester Park has been conducted and here is how the field will line up on Friday night.

Star two-year-old colt Jack Mac was the biggest winner at the barrier draw as he landed gate two. If he is able to show enough gate speed to find the lead it will be a procession as he will dictate terms and prove too strong for his 11 rivals.

Two starts ago he worked three-wide to the breeze and smashed his opposition as he claimed the Group 1 Pearl Classic (2130m) in 1:55.9. Based on that effort, he looks a very strong chance of sitting outside any horse and still winning.

One horse that will look to zap him early will be smart filly Cott Beach. A winner of six races from nine starts, including the Group 1 Westbred 2YO Fillies (2130m), Cott Beach will look to use her excellent gate speed from barrier four in an attempt to find the lead. She will likely look to hold the lead if she finds that position.

Golden State is another horse that could show very good gate speed from barrier six. He was second behind Rock Me Over in a race that wasn’t run to suit and he did well to finish within 1.5m of the winner.

Highroller Joe landed barrier 12 again; it is the same barrier that he began from when winning the Group 1 Westbred 2YO Colts and Geldings (2130m) by 7.8m over Mister Spot. That horse has drawn well in barrier one and will receive an economical run throughout.

Rock Me Over has barrier 10 which is likely to see him following Mister Spot for a while. Gary Hall Jnr will then be looking to work his magic to find some clear running in the final circuit to give chase to Jack Mac, Cott Beach and co.

2017 Golden Slipper final field and barrier draw:

1. Mister Spot – John Graham
2. Jack Mac – Barry Howlett
3. Rosies Ideal – Shane Young
4. Cott Beach – Gary Elson
5. Bettor B Abeliever – Paula Petricevich
6. Golden State – Mike Reed
7. Cimorene – Terry Ferguson
8. Infinite Symbol – Julie O’Neill
9. Village Benny – Debbie Padberg
------------------Second Row------------------
10. Rock Me Over – Kat Warwick
11. Ella Gant Player – Greg and Skye Bond
12. Highroller Joe – Justin Prentice
13. Deep Blue (Em 1) – Barry Howlett
14. All Over Tan (Em 2) – Peter Anderson
