Form analyst Trent Orwin previews his best selections for Gloucester Park on Tuesday night.

Race 3 (6:20pm local/8:20pm AEST) – PEARL CLASSIC QUALIFYING HEAT 3 2YO COLTS AND GELDINGS – 2130m

The third heat of the Pearl Classic is very intriguing and it’s hard to line up a number of these horses against one another considering three are on debut and another, Allwood Pacemaker has broken stride in both starts.

That is generally a recipe for disaster and I was hoping Donald Harper’s two-year-old gelding would be bigger odds. He still may get out to a more attractive price and I’d be waiting for $5 or better to get involved.

Barrier one means he should be able to lead after he showed gate speed but the question is will he get around safely and is he good enough to win.

Bayardo is my top pick in the race while the field could win without surprising.

Allwood Peacemaker if $5+

Rated Price: $4.80

Selections: 2-1-6-5

Race 5 (7:17pm local/9:17pm AEST) – 3YO MS PACE – 1730m

Back To The Beach looks an each-way prospect tonight after racing three-wide throughout at Pinjarra over 1684m. They rated 1:56.0 and he was only beaten 10.4m by Our Zak Whitby who would be favourite from any draw in this field.

There is some guesswork with Loves Me Like A Rock who is a half-brother to Libertybelle Midfrew who was an outstanding mare in Perth.

Another positive is that Back To The Beach gets the services of Chris Lewis. The champion reinsman should sum up the race and make his move when the time is right.

Wesley is my top pick and I’ll be having something on him if he gets out to around $3.50 or more – he’s currently $3.20 and that looks close to his right price.

Back To The Beach if $6.50+

Rated Price: $6.50

Selections: 6-5-7-3

Race 6 (7:47pm local/9:47pm AEST) – MS PACE – 1730m

Sometimes these average C1 events can be a mad-charge at the start as multiple horses look for the lead. This could occur here with gate speed from a number of horses.

Bert The Bookie is one of the class runners of the field despite a record of five wins from 44 attempts. Barrier six is a little tricky but he looks hardest to beat (if you can say that in an open race).

Two starts ago he was favourite at Kellerberrin when parked outside of Kasey Kahne and finishing 2.2m off that horse.

Last start he was a fair way up in grade and this looks more suitable.

Selections: 6-9-5-7
