Bunbury hosts an eight-race program on Saturday night and I have two specials for the meeting.
Race 3 (7:18pm local/10:18pm AEDT) – 3YO MS PACE – 2100m
Bravo Tex drops in grade from recent assignments against the likes of Maczaffair, Davinci Diamond, Im Rockaria and Rock Diamonds.
At his latest effort he ran midfield in the Battle of Bunbury but didn’t have much luck. That race was a lot stronger than this race.
Gary Hall Jnr drove this three-year-old gelding to his only career victory over 1609m at this venue in 2016. That was on debut and nine runs since have been against some of the best of his age group and taking on a lesser tier of three-year-olds may be what is required to salute the judge for the second time.
Race 5 (8:15pm local/11:15pm AEDT) – WESTBRED QUALIFYING HEAT 2 GRADUATION MS PACE – 2100m
Sweet Gina makes her return as a three-year-old but I’m not convinced on this filly despite getting barrier one for this event.
Aliman looks the top pick and he should make a move to race outside of the leader. With race fitness on his side and more ability, he should prove hard to beat from barrier 11.
He faced the breeze and was beaten 1.1m by Saleahs Comand at Gloucester Park on March 13. That was a great effort with Aliman beating home Star Armbro who has raced well in town.
I wouldn’t take prohibitive odds but this looks a really suitable race for Aliman to win again.
