Punters from all over the world will be looking to a crucial workout for Zenyatta on Saturday, before connections commit her to a clash with Rip Van Winkle in the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Santa Anita next month.
The winner of last year’s Ladies Classic, Zenyatta is also entered to defend her crown in that race but connections have suggested the feature is the main objective.
"We all discussed it and felt there was no reason not to pre-enter in the Classic so we did that. She has a work coming up on Saturday and we'll make a final decision after that," trainer John Shirreffs said.
"She's done great since her last race, worked really well last Friday and looks good.
"For Zenyatta to run in the Classic you'd want to think you're horse is peaking. If she is towards Saturday week then that (the Classic) is what we'll probably do."
Meanwhile, it what will come as a surprise to many, fellow filly Rainbow View will also line up in the Breeders’ Cup Classic in preference of a run in the Filly and Mare Turf.
Zenyatta is a best-priced 6/1 with Ladbrokes to taste Classic glory and the firm are also offering a free bet on the race for new customers, for all the information click here.
