Sky Bet has priced up a Hennessy special offering 6/1 for Evan Williams to saddle the winner for the second time in four years with either of his two runners on Saturday.
His 2006 winner State of Play has been cut twice into 16/1 from 33s to repeat his win in the Newbury showpiece and the veteran is coming in for all the support ahead of stablemate Cappa Bleu.
The Cheltenham Foxhunters winner remains an 8/1 chance with Sky Bet following news stable jockey Paul Moloney passed over the unexposed former hunter chaser – now the mount of Jamie Moore – to stay loyal to State of Play for ‘sentimental’ reasons.
Matt Doyle of Sky Bet told Racingbase: ‘A second high profile success in the Hennessy would be a real feather in the cap of Evan Williams and the money tells us he is going there with two live chances.’
Denman, another previous winner bidding to win it for the second time in three years, heads the market at 7/2 despite trainer Paul Nicholls admitting his charge faces a stiff task.
Meanwhile, the Hennessy outsider War of Attrition is 33s from 50/1 following news Slippers Madden will take the ride on the 2006 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner.
