Sussex Stakes 2010 - Rip Van Winkle v Canford Cliffs at Glorious Goodwood

The highlight of next week’s Glorious Goodwood looks set to be the Group One Sussex Stakes as Richard Hannon’s duo Canford Cliffs and Dick Turpin could clash with Aidan O’Brien’s Rip Van Winkle.

O’Brien has entered Rip Van Winkle, Beethoven, Black Quartz, Encompassing and Steinbeck in the eight furlong showpiece though it will probably only be Rip Van Winkle capable of challenging the mighty Canford Cliffs and his Group One-winning stablemate Dick Turpin.

Paddy Power have not quoted Dick Turpin in the betting with the Prix Jean Prat winner not certain to line up, but they are under no illusions as to who they think is the one to beat.
