Golden Sword mover in St Leger market

Racingbase Staff - 1 Jul 2009

Golden Sword is the pick of 15 possible runners for Aidan O’Brien in this year’s Ladbrokes St Leger.

Of the 41 horses entered for the race, a staggering 15 of them belonged to Ballydoyle, with the notable exception being ante-post favourite for the race, Irish Derby winning hero, Fame And Glory.

As a result, Golden Sword has become the solid 3/1 favourite for the race with Stan James, and has been shortened to the same price from 7/2 with Victor Chandler.

The St Leger betting was not the only market shuffled after the entries for the Doncaster showpiece were received ,  Fame And Glory was shortened to 4/1 with Victor Chandler for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, and was trimmed to the same price from 5/1 with SkyBet.

Meanwhile, with Saturday and the Coral-Eclipse fast approaching, favourite for the race Sea The Stars was shortened from 10/11 to 4/5 with the sponsors.
