Evasive purchased by Godolphin operation

Godolphin have moved to improve their disappointing run of form with their three-year-olds by purchasing Cheveley Park Stud’s, Evasive.

Formerly trained by Sir Michael Stoute, the Godolphin operation have bought the horse from their owner and breeders and the Elusive Quality colt will now be aimed at an end of season campaign.

Having raced creditably twice this season, when sixth behind Sea The Stars in the 2000 Guineas and then fourth behind Mastercraftsman in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, the horse will now look to add to his two wins last season.

Simon Crisford, racing manager of Godolphin said on Monday evening: "We're looking forward to campaigning him later in the season, and next year."

Godolphin have so far had a disappointing season and have had just five winners from 48 three-year-old runners in Britain.

Plans for Evasive, who is entered in both the Darley July Cup and the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, have yet to be confirmed.

Coral are a best priced 16/1 about Evasive making his debut for Godolphin in style by winning the Darley July Cup on July 10.
