Duff heads to Britain to tackle Charge

Racingbase Staff - 2 Jul 2009

Irish raider Duff will travel over the water once again to take in the Coral Charge at Sandown on Saturday.

Trainer Edward Lynam has made a habit of setting his superstar British tasks and now the Golden Jubilee eighth will run in the Charge, providing the ground does not deteriorate.  He said:  "He'll run, provided we get fast ground, it wasn't a bad run last time and he has been fine since."

Duff also has an entry for next week's Darley July Cup, but Lynam said: "He'd want to be winning on Saturday before we thought about that."

Duff is one of 11 possible runners in the Group Three contest, in which Total Gallery is also likely to take his chance.  After disappointing in the Jersey Stakes, trainer Stan Moore believes his horse is now in good form: "We could do with a little bit of rain, but he's in good form.

“We ran him at Ascot to see if he'd get the seven furlongs but he didn't so we've dropped him back in trip  He's bred for five furlongs, and won his maiden over that trip, so I'd be hopeful of a big run."
