The lofty reputation of Coventry Stakes winner, Canford Cliffs, was dealt a huge blow when he was defeated by Arcano in the Darley Prix Morny at Deauville on Sunday.
Bookmakers were keen to react to Arcano’s course record breaking victory and were also quick to ease Canford Cliffs 2000 Guineas odds.
Winning trainer Brian Meehan was understandably delighted and admitted he could see why his horse had been promoted to Guineas favouritism: "I'm so pleased to win for my new owner.
"It's marvellous to do the job for him. I've only been training for him for a few weeks - his whole team have been fantastic.
"My horse is still a baby and there is masses of improvement still to come.
"He's entitled to be Guineas favourite now and getting a mile will not be an issue."
Totesport were most taken by the victory of Meehan's unbeaten colt and they gave quotes of 6/1 on the son of Oasis Dream landing the first Classic of next summer.
Canford Cliffs was eased to 10-1 with the firm, while Coral reacted similarly, offering the pair at 8-1 and 10s respectively.
Ladbrokes were less impressed by Arcano and made him joint favourite with Canford Cliffs and Steinbeck as their 12-1 co-favourites
