Arc and Irish Champion for Fame And Glory

Nick Wilby - 30 Jun 2009

Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby winning hero Fame And Glory will enjoy a deserved midsummer break before trainer Aidan O’Brien pitches him into the Irish Champion Stakes, followed by the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

After finishing second in the English equivalent, Fame And Glory routed his rivals in Sunday’s Irish Derby and bookmakers and fans alike were excited about where the horse would head to next.  Aidan O’Brien said: "We are going to give Fame And Glory a little break and then bring him back for the autumn, when the plan will be to run in the Irish Champion Stakes and the Arc."

With the horse not heading for the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, it could be record breaking stayer Yeats who takes in the Ascot showpiece, while St James's Place Stakes winner Mastercraftsman is to try 1mf4 for the first time in the Juddmonte International.

O'Brien added: "We are looking at the King George for either Yeats or Golden Sword, while Mastercraftsman is a possible for the Juddmonte International."

Fame And Glory is a best-priced 6-1 with PaddyPower to win the Paris showpiece on the first Sunday of October.
