Amlin 1965 Chase at Ascot - Monet's Garden V Voy Por Ustedes

Racingbase Staff - 20 Nov 2009

This Saturday’s Amlin 1965 Chase at Ascot looks set to be a vintage renewal with Monet’s Garden, Voy Por Ustedes, Albertas Run and Schindlers Hunt all set to run in the big race.

Paul Carberry will take the ride on Monet’s Garden for the first time in the race and trainer Nicky Richards is confident that he can continue his winning connection with the Greystoke stable.

"He goes back a long way with Greystoke," said Richards.

"He used to ride an awful lot of winners for father and I think we gave him his first Cheltenham winner over fences.

"He ain't a bad jockey and it's great to have him."

Monet's Garden heads to Ascot after a victory in the Old Roan Chase at Aintree last month.

"He's just been in normal training since then and he's in good form," Richards continued.

"For that sort of money you never get an easy race. We go there and enjoy the day hopefully.

"He's won an Ascot Chase and was second to Kauto Star in another, so he's had a couple of good races there."

Meanwhile, connections of legendary Chaser Voy Por Ustedes are hoping that the five-time Grade One winning superstar can make a winning start to this campaign.

The eight-year-old was last seen winning a thrilling renewal of the Melling Chase at Aintree in April and Barry Simpson, racing manager to owner Sir Robert Ogden explained:  "The horse is fit and well, he's ready to run, but like many of Alan's horses he probably might need it.

"Hopefully he'll run a good race. As you would expect, it's competitive. It's a starting point for us, that's how we are looking at it.

"It's a good starting opportunity for him, but it is extremely competitive. Alan's horses have definitely needed a run, so we're going there hopeful but not confident.

"We just hope he can come back where he left off last season.

"Alan's been happy with him and the work he's done but this horse has had some tough seasons and he's competed against the very best."
