Fame looking for Derby Glory

Fame and Glory took another step closer to Epsom today with a ruthless performance in the Group Two Derrinstown Derby Trial Stakes at Leopardstown, and now heads the betting at 5-2 with William Hill for the Investec Derby next month.

Perfectly ridden by pilot Seamus Heffernan Fame and Glory was help-up in rear whilst pacemaker Tarankali set a strong gallop, and then struck for home a furlong and a half out to power clear in impressive style.

The son of Montjeu has followed the same route as previous Ballydoyle Derby winners High Chapparal and Galileo and is now just 5/2 from 6/1 with William Hill for a victory in the Epsom Classic.

Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, said: ‘’This colt has gone from strength to strength since his victory at Saint-Cloud in the Autumn. It is of no coincidence that he is following the same route as other legendary Ballydoyle Classic winners. His victory today was one of consummate ease, and we believe he is the one to beat at Epsom.’’
